School for Parents summer party fundraiser …
Written by Jackie Clark on 18 Jun 2015
Wellies and waterproofs were the outfits of choice for the third Annual School for Parents Summer Party!
We’d hoped and prayed for sun – but instead we had rain.
Lots of it!
Ah, the “Great British Summer” ….
However, not only is School for Parents dear to our hearts
at A&G Chem-Dry, as our adopted charity,
they are also supported by other local businesses.
And NONE of us were going to be put off trying to raise as much money as we could for this most deserving of charities. So with umbrellas up and smiles on, we headed to West Bridgford to help make the Summer Party a fabulously memorable day for everyone involved.
Mike and I had volunteered our services again to help run the “Teddy Bear Bungee Jump”, along with Tony “Babbling” Bates (MD of local business Fast Graphics and star of Twitter!) and ably assisted by Tony’s son Henry.
We even had a surprise visit from “Bungee the Bear” – our Teddy Bear Bungee jump mascot!
Teddies were sponsored, or paid an entry fee on the day, to Bungee Jump off the top of the Fast Graphics cherry picker at full height!
After being signed in, the bears were checked out and even x-rayed by the trainee doctors from the University of Nottingham
in their special Teddy Bear Medical Centre.
Here are just three of the brave bears who took part!
From left to right, we have …
Big Ted from St. Mary’s Church in Plumtree, Chilled Bear from Midland Regional Printers and Little Wickets Bear.
Although rain definitely didn’t stop play, sadly it did affect funds raised on the day …
