A New Chapter
Written by A and G Chem-Dry on 27 Feb 2020
A new chapter in our family business has begun!
We’re so excited to announce that Stuart, Mike and Jackie’s son, has taken over the helm at A&G Chem-Dry. Stuart actually became the new owner back in the Autumn but we were all so busy helping our customers prepare their homes for the festive season and then the New Year etc, that we haven’t even had time to share the news with you until now!!
Although Mike says he has retired and Jackie is having a “Gap Year” .. which she hopes to stretch, as with most family businesses, they certainly won’t be out of the picture completely. Both of them are looking forward to helping out and supporting Stuart as he takes on his new role as business owner.
Following a varied career in the British Armed Forces, which took him all over the world, Stuart and his wife Debbie were seeking a more settled lifestyle for themselves and their three children. Following an offer from Mike and Jackie for him to pursue a change of career and join the family business, A&G Chem-Dry, Stuart made the move with Debbie and the children back up to the East Midlands and put down roots. Twelve years later, Stuart often jokes that as apprenticeships go, this has been one of the longest on record!

A New Chapter – over to Stuart
As previously said, after twelve years of in-post training I have finally stepped up and taken over the business! Over the years, I have attended courses at the home of Chem-Dry, Harris Reasearch in Logan, Utah, USA and also at Beverley near Hull, in the UK. I have made it my goal to gain a full knowledge of our unique Chem-Dry system and procedures and how best to implement them on your carpets and soft furnishings. This, coupled with many hours, in the early days, shadowing our longest serving Technician Brian stood me in good stead, however there is no substitute for actually getting out there and doing the work yourself. Even now, I’m still learning as new fabrics, fibres and materials come on to the market and new, innovative Chem-Dry solutions, treatments and techniques are created to care for them.
Although my parents have retired, the rest of the team is staying the same. Brian, Barry and myself will still be the Technicians visiting your properties to provide quotations, do the cleaning work and collect and deliver your rugs. Diane will still be in the office taking your calls and queries , booking your appointments and generally keeping us boys in check. Mike and Jackie will be here from time to time to cover holidays and assisting me with other aspects of admin that come with running a business small business.
As A&G Chem-Dry begins this chapter, a big thank you must be said to my parents for all their hard work over the years. The solid platform that they have created should see us carrying out our cleaning services for many years to come. Also to you our customers, without your continued support there would not be any work, so please do keep our phone ringing and our computers pinging with all your email enquiries and bookings.
As a family, we are so grateful for the support of our fabulously loyal and discerning customers, many of who have been with us since the beginning in 1995. Also, our amazing team, Brian, Barry and Diane, who have all been instrumental in helping the transfer go ahead seamlessly and who are all looking forward to this new and exciting chapter at A&G Chem-Dry.
In this, our 25th year in business – and always at A&G Chem-Dry – our brand promise remains unchanged.
We will delight our customers with the cleanest and fastest drying carpets and upholstery in the industry. Our products will be expertly applied, so as to be gentle on carpets and property, safe for people and pets and our services will be delivered by trustworthy, friendly professionals.
