Had a spill? You know the drill!
- Remove any spillages and carpet stains immediately
In the words of Corporal Jones on Dad’s Army …. Don’t Panic!! However, the most important thing when it comes to dealing with a stain is to make sure you do act fast. When you are cleaning up after spills remember NEVER to rub the stain, this will only grind the stain further into your carpet or fabrics and could even cause damage to your carpet fibres.
Remove as much excess as possible, by blotting for liquids or gently scraping with a spoon or palette knife in the case of food spills etc. Dampen the area with either our Chem-Dry Stain Extinguisher or Spot Remover, soda water or plain tap water and NOTHING else!! Then get some kitchen roll or an old, clean, towel and blot, blot, blot and blot again at the residue.
If in doubt, just call us! The sooner you call us for advice, the less likely you are to be tempted to “Try Everything” (f we had a penny for every time a customer has told us that’s what they’ve done …..) and the less likely it is too of the carpet being ruined.

- Prevent dirt entering your home
When it comes to keeping your carpets clean, prevention is always the best cure. Using doormats and entrance mats will help to reduce soil build up around your doorways and the amount of dirt entering your home. If you feel comfortable to do so, then another great way to prevent soil getting into your carpets is to ask visitors to remove their muddy footwear.
- Vaccum regularly
We know it’s an obvious one, but vacuuming regularly with a powerful cleaner helps prevent the dirt from trampling into the back of the carpet or fabric. It is best to use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate arrester) and vacuum your carpets at least 3 times a week. In high traffic areas the more often you can vacuum the better.
